I’m Ali.
I offer a heart-centred, gently re-energising and deeply relaxing yoga practise, blending Hatha, Yin and Restorative styles. My classes are beginner friendly but with enough options routinely offered so that you might gently challenge yourself if you'd like. We often use props to support our practise. You can expect a warm, relaxed welcome.
My first experience of yoga was aged 19, many years ago now. What struck me then, stays with me to this day: the sense of openness in body and calm in mind that yoga has capacity to bring to us. I’m particularly inspired by the mind-breath-body connection, the conscious interplay of somatic, mindful movement, breath work and restorative poses having an often transformational effect on the whole body.
Initially I trained to teach children’s yoga, "planting the seed" of yoga, encouraging youngsters to manage emotions, move their body and gain self-confidence; qualities they’ll be able to carry through life.
I went on to train as an adult yoga teacher (200 hours), aged 53, and have gone on to take specialist trainings in Teen, Yin, Menopause and Restorative yoga as well as Circle Holding and Yoga for Bone Health.
I believe yoga and its philosophy is for every stage of life but our practise and relationship with it will necessarily evolve through the years. It’s important to find the right style for you at any given time; tuning inwards, coming back to yourself, releasing expectation and judgment and making way for receipt of an inner calm, through movement, connection, nurture and rest.
I hope to meet you on the mat soon.
Oxytocin hugs,
Ali
